Ann Liddle: Sweater Form (Clothing Series)

24" x 24" x 3"
Knitted cotton, acrylic paint, oil encaustic
My mother taught me to sew. When I retired to become and artist, I started designing and making clothes. And recently I took up knitting after a 25 year hiatus. I decided it would be fun to treat knitted iconic clothing as wall sculpture - not wearable at all. This is a version of the essential sweater form and is basically a 2-D piece.
